Simple Slot Car Lap Counter/Timing Systems.

I've searched the web diligently over and over for a simple reasonably priced lap counter/timing system that I can connect to an HO AFX system, basically right out of the box.



As in digital 1/32 systems, these lap counter/timer systems are available without having to connect to a computer. There seems to be a big demand for this, but I can't figure out why there are none available.

The closest I've seen is the DS systems, but these are more on the professional club scale and by no means inexpensive. Any input or possible sources out there?
